Mary Joy & Derek’s wedding at Brake & Clutch Warehouse was amazing! I’ve been wanting to shoot here at Brake & Clutch Warehouse since it opened last year! I’m so happy to have been the one to not only document this momentous occasion of their marriage, her bridals and their engagements, but to have been chosen to be in their wedding as well! It was the best of both worlds. Seriously, I was so happy to do (#)all the things related to being a part of their wedding.
Their engagements in Deep Ellum were so fun – you’ll have to check those out here! We started at Emporium Pie (and of course, had pie), worked our way through some Dallas murals, then went to Barcadia because they love to play video games with each other! We had so much fun working our way through Dallas enjoying great conversation.
On their cake, you’ll notice their Wall-e & Eva Pop figures as cake toppers – they incorporated these into their wedding because Wall-e was their first dates together back in ’08! For as long as I can remember, Derek has been in a band. Another great incorporation into their wedding was having Derek and his band play for the wedding during the reception! It was super cool having his live band play!
These two met through mutual friends when we were back in youth group, soon after MJ discovered she drew a picture that looked just like Derek! I remember her coming to me and expressing this random, yet crazy realization. Derek proposed on Mary Joy’s birthday last year while her and her family were out eating dinner at Benihana, one of MJ’s favorite restaurants! Nearly 10 years later, they’re married!
Mary Joy & Derek, thank you so very much for having me be apart of this amazing time in both of your lives! I am so excited for you both in your marriage! I’m thrilled and honored that you had me not only IN your wedding, but capturing it for you to look back on for many years to come!
